Cleaning a previous or partial Notes installation from your client
If you experience a problem installing IBM® Lotus® Notes® or if you exited out of the installation process prior to its completion, review the suggestions below.

Uninstall instructions are provided in this guide. If, after uninstalling a previous or partial release, you continue to experience install or uninstall problems, use the cleanup instructions below.

Cleanup instructions for Windows

To clean a Notes or partial Notes install from your Microsoft® Windows® client, complete the following procedure:

1. Delete all folders in the Notes <install path>\ except the \data folder.

2. Back up the Notes <install path>\data folder and then delete all subdirectories in <install path>\data. Do not delete any root-level files from the Notes <install path>\data folder.

3. If Notes appears in your Add/Remove Program panel, run the Windows installer cleanup utility located at Microsoft Help and Support.

Cleanup instructions for Linux

To clean a Notes or partial Notes install from your Linux® client, complete the following procedure:

As root user:
1. Remove <install path>/install.log (and any other log files left over in that directory).

2. Remove <install path>/framework.

3. Remove /root/InstallShield (unless you have installed other programs on your system with InstallShield).

4. Remove /root/lotus.

5. Remove /root/install.log if present.

6. Remove /root/install.xml if present.

7. Remove /etc/lotus/notes if present.

As non-root user:
1. Remove /home/<user name>/lotus.

2. Remove /home/<user name>/InternalProvisioning.log.

3. Remove the contents of /tmp owned by <user name>.
