TROUBLESHOOTING
Using the Smart Upgrade Log file for troubleshooting
When a Smart Upgrade attempt is made from the IBM® Lotus® Notes® Client using the File - Tools - Notes Smart Upgrade menu option or when Smart Upgrade is initiate due to automatic prompting that occurs in the Notes Client, a Smart Upgrade Tracking file is generated in the following directory for that Smart Upgrade session.
datadirectory\IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT\SmartUpgrade
When the file is created is named SmartUpgrade.log, but when the Smart Upgrade session is complete, the file is copied to new log file with a new file name. The information in this file is useful when troubleshooting Smart Upgrade problems. This file is also used by the Smart Upgrade Tracking feature when the feature is enabled. The file name is composed of several variables as shown:
SmartUpgrade_ADMIN1450_2005_07_05@13_21_08.log
Where
SmartUpgrade is the first component of the new file name
ADMIN1450 is the OS machine name and is added after SmartUpgrade_
2005_07_05@13_21_08 are the date and time, respectively.
The file name extension .log is appended to file name.
The SmartUpgrade.log file is then truncated to zero (0) length until the next Smart Upgrade session.
