NOTES CLIENT INSTALLATION AND UPGRADE

Automating Notes installation using a silent install
Automated client installation, otherwise referred to as "silent install," is available for installing IBM® Lotus® Notes(R and certain other features in the Notes install kit. Silent install simplifies user installation because it presents few or no installation options.

To install Notes using silent installation, you must be logged in as an administrative user or a non-administrative user with elevated privileges (Windows) or root user (Linux).

Notes silent install uses a tuner program to create a transform file based on installation options that you specify when you run the tuner. When you or a user subsequently runs the silent install, the specified installation options are applied automatically. For information see "Customizing Notes install using the tuner," "Calling a transform file during Notes silent install and "Performing a Notes silent install on Windows."

To perform a silent Notes multi-user install, see the topic "Performing a Notes multi-user silent install."

You can also specify features from the Notes install manifest (install.xml file) as command line arguments. All features in the install manifest that have their "required" attribute set to "true" are installed.
