Customizing Notes install using the tuner
Some aspects of client installation can be customized to allow you to control the options that are installed and/or available to users. You can use the Installshield™ Tuner to customize IBM® Lotus® Notes® client installation on a Microsoft® Windows client, by customizing the MSI (Microsoft Software Installer) file. The tuner supports customization of MSI kits using transforms that support adding resources, registry settings, shortcuts, folders, changing installer defaults, hiding features, and enabling other custom installer transforms. The tuner provides for customization using pre-selected choices for the installer.

Transform files are simply added to the Notes install kit in the form of a <TRANSFORM>.MST file. A tuned install kit can be distributed using standard media kit distribution methods.

To control installation of the features listed in the Notes install kit's install manifest (INSTALL.XML), you must customize the install manifest itself.

You can use transform files to deselect options that you don't want to install by default. You also use transform files to hide the options that you do not want users to change, regardless of whether you choose to install a particular option. Modify the Visible and Initial State settings for each installation option that you want to designate as hidden or not hidden.

After you customize installation of traditional Notes features using the tuner and transform capabilities, you can customize specific feature installation using the install manifest (INSTALL.XML) and Eclipse™ update site contents (UPDATESITE.ZIP), resident in the Notes install kit.
