MONITORING
If you have modified any of the IBM® Lotus® Domino® 7 Probable Cause, Possible Solution, or Corrective Action entries or any Domino 7 Stock entries provided by IBM Lotus Domino, those modifications may be overwritten when Domino is upgraded to a newer release.
If you are maintaining a domain that includes both Domino 7 and Domino 8 servers, you need to migrate your modified Stock entries into modular documents, and then merge the Stock entry modifications into the upgraded Stock entries in EVENTS4.NSF.
If you are upgrading all of your servers to Domino 8 and you have made modifications to Domino 7 Stock entries, migrate your stock entry modifications into modular documents.
Use this procedure to migrate all of your modified Stock entries to upgraded Stock entries.
1. Create a view that exposes the PC, PS, and CA statements, and then include that view in your original EVENTS4.NTF, your domain EVENTS4.NSF, and the upgrade version of EVENTS4.NTF.
2. Export to text the PC, PS, and CA statements in the Monitoring Configuration template (EVENTS4.NTF) from the version of Domino that you are using.
3. Export to text the customized PC, PS, and CA statements in the Monitoring Configuration database (EVENTS4.NSF) that you are using.
4. Export to text the PC, PS, and CA statements in the new Monitoring Configuration template (EVENTS4.NTF), that is, the copy of EVENTS4.NTF that is included in the upgrade.
5. Use a text comparison tool to compare the old EVENTS4.NTF and your EVENTS4.NTF text to determine which entries you have changed.
6. Use a text comparison tool to compare the old EVENTS4.NTF and your EVENTS4.NSF text to determine which entries you have changed. If there is no overlap between what you have changed and what Lotus has changed, you do not need to complete the remainder of this procedure.
7. Upgrade the Domino server, which will automatically upgrade the content of EVENTS4.NSF.
8. Restart the upgraded server to allow the Event task to upgrade the EVENTS4.NSF with the latest EVENTS4.NTF values. (Note that this process is more comprehensive than a design refresh. The documents are upgraded using a a customized replication between EVENTS4.NTF and EVENTS4.NSF).
9. Merge into your upgraded copy of EVENTS4.NSF, any of your modified entries that have been overwritten.
