LOTUS INOTES

Making Lotus Notes links work in Lotus iNotes
You can configure IBM® Lotus® iNotes™ so that users can open Lotus Notes® links (document, view, or application links) in either a new browser window or in Lotus Notes. Lotus iNotes supports Notes links to any server, as long as the user has access to the application to which the link connects and the application is on a Domino server in the local area network.

To configure the server so that document links are supported as URLs:

1. From the Domino Administrator, click the Configuration tab.

2. Select the Server view and open the Server Document for the mail server.

3. Click "Edit Server."

4. Choose the Internet Protocols tab, then Domino Web Engine tab.

5. Set the field "Redirect to resolve external links" to "By Server" or "By Database."

6. Click Save & Close.

Additionally, add the setting DominoHTMLOptions=OfferNotesURLInLink=1 to the Domino Web server's NOTES.INI file. This setting generates a Notes link (notes:// protocol link) for any displayed Notes URL link, which allows Lotus iNotes users to alternatively open the document within Notes (rather than within the browser). The setting also ensures that both links are available when messages are forwarded or replied to with history.
